More Summer Love

We're finishing up our Virginian summer and it's been fantastic! One of Z's favorite places is the Norfolk Botanical Gardens (we love the mermaid theme around here)!

Oh yes, this place is quite relaxing!

Z with her best friends in Virginia, Ethan and Owen (and we couldn't believe we got them to stand still for a picture!).
Yeah, that's more like it.

Riding on the tram tour.

She loved the butterfly exhibit and the personal accessories.

And she wanted to play with the butterfly puppet for hours!

Bug eyes.

In Ithaca with Homer the Barn Owl.

In July, L took a last-minute trip to California to celebrate the life of her 92-year-old grandmother, Jean Meadows, who went to be with Jesus on June 30th. It was a quick and bittersweet trip spending time with family. Here's L, her sister M, and baby A with our grandfather, missing his love of 72 years.

M giving the eulogy at the beautiful memorial service in San Clemente.

With our Daddy.

The Meadows clan (missing a few members who couldn't be there like A, Z, and M's boys).

We were able to enjoy a little downtime at the beach.

A's first time at the Pacific Ocean!

Definitely a precious time with family.

Z got to spend quality time with her Daddy while Mommy was away.

We love this pool! So cool with the view of the lake.

We sure get a lot of thunderstorms here (which are so fun!), but it's nice hitting up the beach when we can.

Our buddies on the our lake. We don't get tired of watching the geese.

Honky-honk-honk!

And poor baby had an extremely high fever and needed a visit to the ER.

She also completed her tumbling class. She enjoyed it but says she's glad it's over.

This was always their favorite part of class.

L purchased a blank mermaid from the Mermaid Factory in Norfolk and Z helped her paint it. So much fun!

What a special memento from Virginia!

A and L celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary! How cool is that?!

Visiting Daddy on base during his lunch break.

Family walk in Ghent (a district of Norfolk).

Hey buddies!

The Hague (waterway) and Art Museum in the background.

And more fabulous beach days.

It's like our own private beach on base (on the bay).

We visited the Children's Museum in Portsmouth with friends Ethan and Owen. The kids loved it!

Mooo!

Laying eggs in a nest.
 Fishing on the tug boat.

What is that face?! Well at least the ship looks cool.

Love the churches in Portsmouth.
Z wanted a closer look at the "castle."

And last but not least, the reason we moved to Virginia: Alex graduated from the Unit Leader Course at the Naval School of Music!

So proud of this guy!
