The Home Stretch to Summer

Annual Mother's Day photo at church. Clearly, by our sleepy faces on, you can tell this was taken first thing in the morning.

Free face painting and popcorn down by the pier at Armed Forces Appreciation Day.
The Navy dropped off some gear on the beach.

Z's class performing a cute fish song with their giant handmade fish hats in a talent show
 (Z on the far left).

Z also wants to start a band with her buddies in the neighborhood.
Fun instruments to choose from in the house, the mandolins and tambourine being the most popular.

One Saturday, we took a random family outing in LA; first stop, the Griffith Observatory!

Nice view of the Hollywood Hills. The infamous Sign is there, just microscopic in photos, of course.
 See, there it is.
Good ol' hazy view of LA

 Loved the Planetarium, so cool!
 Einstein and a smart-Alex.

Reminded of scenes with James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause." Love the history here.
From there, we drove down the hill and checked out the sidewalk stars on Hollywood Blvd.
Our little star hanging outside the Dolby Theater (where the Oscars take place).
The famous Grauman's Chinese Theater (although it's been renamed, weird!).

This bird became really angry when we forgot to tip him for posing in the pic. Now we know.

Z with Elsa and the El Capitan Theater. Toasty weather for the snow queen.

Dinner at Universal CityWalk.
Stop the presses, we're having too much fun!

On Memorial Day, we honored those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom, and attended a special ceremony and tribute at Park Semper Fi by the San Clemente pier.
Also got to see Daddy on the job, always a treat.

The Marine brass quintet looking good, as usual.

Enjoyed dinner afterward in L's hometown. The animal lover even loves the fake dogs.

Up next, last day of kindergarten, with her sweet teacher, Ms. GaNun.

On our way to 1st grade! Congrats, Class of 2028!
